About DomainsDoc
What is DomainsDoc?
DomainsDoc is a domain health monitoring service. It runs fourteen checks against your domain. SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MX, IP blacklists, SSL certificate, WHOIS/domain expiry, HTTP uptime, DNSSEC, MTA-STS, TLS-RPT, BIMI, CAA, and reverse DNS, and alerts you when anything breaks or changes.
How is this different from MXToolbox or Mail-Tester?
MXToolbox is a great one-off lookup tool. Mail-Tester scores individual messages. DomainsDoc is continuous monitoring, once you add a domain, we re-check it every hour (or every 15 minutes on Agency) and ping you on changes. We also bundle email auth + SSL + uptime + WHOIS in one report instead of forcing you to use three separate tools.
Who is DomainsDoc for?
Developers and ops folks managing one to dozens of domains, marketing teams trying to fix deliverability, and agencies monitoring client domains. Anywhere a broken SPF record or expired SSL becomes a revenue problem.
Do you have a free tier?
Yes. Free includes 1 domain with on-demand checks (manual recheck only, no continuous monitoring). Starter ($9/mo) gets you 5 domains with checks every 6 hours plus email alerts. Pro ($19/mo, 25 domains) adds hourly checks, Slack/Discord alerts, and PDF reports. Agency ($49/mo, 100 domains) checks every 15 minutes.
Checks & monitoring
What checks run?
SPF record syntax and lookup count; DKIM key presence across configurable selectors (with automatic provider-based selector discovery); DMARC policy and reporting; MX record resolution; IP blacklist status across 10 DNSBLs; SSL certificate validity and TLS version; domain expiry via RDAP/WHOIS; HTTP/HTTPS uptime with response time tracking; plus DNSSEC, MTA-STS, TLS-RPT, BIMI, CAA records, and reverse DNS (PTR) on your mail server IPs.
How often do checks run?
Free: on-demand only. Starter: every 6 hours. Pro: every hour. Agency: every 15 minutes. WHOIS is cached for 24 hours regardless of plan to be polite to registry systems.
How do alerts work?
When a check result changes (status changes, or key data like SPF text changes), we generate an alert. We deliver via email, Slack webhook, or Discord webhook based on your preferences. Alerts include a clear description, fix instructions specific to the failure, and a link to the dashboard.
Can I customize DKIM selectors per domain?
Yes. The default selector list covers the most common ones (default, google, selector1, selector2, k1, s1, s2, mail, dkim, resend), and when none of those match we automatically probe provider-specific selectors inferred from your SPF and MX records. Add custom selectors per domain when you edit it.
Do checks count against any rate limit?
Continuous monitoring is included in your plan and runs on our schedule, not yours. The manual "recheck now" button is rate-limited to 5 per day per domain on Free and 20 per day per domain on paid plans.
Pricing & billing
Can I switch plans?
Yes, anytime. Upgrades are prorated; downgrades take effect at your next billing cycle. Use the Manage Subscription button in Settings to open the Stripe Customer Portal.
Do you offer annual billing?
Yes, annual saves 20%. Switch the toggle on the Pricing page to see annual rates.
What happens if I exceed my plan's domain limit?
You can't, we won't let you add a domain past your limit, and we don't charge overage. Upgrade to a higher plan to add more.
How do refunds work?
Standard 30-day money-back if continuous monitoring doesn't work for you. Email support and we'll refund the most recent charge, no questions.
Technical
Where do checks run from?
Our servers run in EU and US regions. We don't support arbitrary multi-region checks today, if you need geographic coverage (e.g. to detect regional CDN outages), pair us with a dedicated multi-region uptime tool.
Do you support IPv6?
Yes. A and AAAA records are both resolved for blacklist checks, and we connect over IPv6 when only AAAA is present.
How long is data retained?
Check results are kept for 90 days. Alerts and grade history are kept indefinitely while your account is active.
Can I export my data?
Yes, every domain detail page has a JSON export of its full check history. Bulk export across all domains is on the roadmap.
Do you have a status page?
Yes, status.domainsdoc.com publishes our own uptime. We monitor ourselves with the same engine we sell.
Security & privacy
Do you read my email or DNS data?
No. We only query public DNS records and complete TLS handshakes on public ports. Nothing requires private access to your systems.
How do you handle authentication?
Supabase Auth handles password storage and session tokens. Backend verifies JWTs on every request. Service-role keys are never exposed to the frontend.
Where is data stored?
Supabase Postgres in EU. Stripe in EU/US for billing data. Resend for transactional email.
